The UCSB Center for Middle East Studies announces a call for papers for its Sixth Annual Middle East Studies Conference. CMES accepts proposals for papers, organized panels, and workshops pertaining to the study of the ancient, medieval, and contemporary Middle East and its languages. Proposals are especially welcome on language pedagogy, ancient Near Eastern languages and cultures, space, visual culture, art, architecture, media, popular culture, ethnomusicology, Middle Eastern religions, politics, war and conflict, peacemaking, women and gender.

All proposals should include the following: 1) Name of presenter; 2) Email address; 3) Institutional address and affiliation; 4) phone number; 5) Title of paper (and/or panel or workshop); 6) 250-word abstract.
