Julie Peteet is Professor and Chair of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Louisville. She is the author of Gender in Crisis: Women and the Palestinian Resistance Movement (1990) and Landscape of Hope and Despair: Palestinian Refugee Camps (2005).
Lori Allen
The Politics of Palestinian Human Rights
Lori Allen is an Academy Scholar at Harvard Academy for International & Area Studies. Her research and writing focus on Palestine, human rights and the politics of suffering. She received her Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Chicago.
Samera Esmeir
The Hariri Tribunal and the Crisis in Lebanon
Samera Esmeir is a former lawyer and presently Assistant Professor in the Rhetoric Department at UC Berkeley. Her forthcoming book is entitled The Work of Law in the Age of Empire: Production of Humanity in Colonial Egypt.
Lisa Hajjar
Moderator and Discussant
Lisa Hajjar is Associate Professor and Chair of the UCSB Law and Society Program. She is the author of Courting Conflict: The Israeli Military Court System in the West Bank and Gaza (2005).
