Maps and Directions for Northbound Traffic (LAX):
*click on map for enlarged versions, or scroll down for southbound directions.

Take the 405 north, over the Sepulveda Pass into the San Fernando Valley.  As you come over the pass, move into the second or third lane from the right.  The furthest right lane will exit onto local streets, but the other two will connect to the 101 freeway.  Exit to 101 *NORTH* towards Ventura.

Travel about 95 miles on the 101 through to Santa Barbara.

The University is at the far north end of Santa Barbara (the suburb of Goleta).

From 101, exit onto the 217 highway marked UCSB/Airport.  The left-hand lane will take you directly onto Campus through the East ("Henley") gate.

As you come through the gate, stay to the RIGHT.  This is Mesa Road -- follow it through two sets of stoplights and turn LEFT at the third stoplight, OCEAN ROAD.

Ocean Road swings to the right at the first stop sign and you should follow it to the right.

There is one set of stoplights for a pedestrian crossing, but at the next intersection, you should turn LEFT and then swing RIGHT into Parking Lot #27.

Our building, the Humanities & Social Sciences Building (affectionately known to one and all as the 'HSSB') is the large white building in front of you.  You will have to park and go to the machine to purchase a parking permit and put it in the window of your car.

If there are no empty spaces in parking lot #27, you will have to exit that lot at the end furthest from where you came in, turn right, do a U-turn, and continue to the next lot, #22, which is a large multi-story parking structure that always has space.

The CMES office is located on the north side of the building, 3rd floor, room number 3073.

Maps and Directions for Southbound Traffic:
*click on map for enlarged versions, or scroll up for northbound directions.

As you head *SOUTH* on the 101 from Santa Maria you will enter the northern edge of Santa Barbara (the suburb of Goleta).

From the 101, take the Glen Annie Road exit towards Storke Road. Turn RIGHT at the stoplight and drive roughly 1 mile to El Colegio Road.

Turn LEFT onto El Colegio Road and drive approximately 1 mile to the stoplight at El Colegio Road and Ocean Road. Continue STRAIGHT through the light and then swing RIGHT into Parking Lot #27.

Our building, the Humanities & Social Sciences Building (affectionately known to one and all as the 'HSSB') is the large white building in front of you.  You will have to park and go to the machine to purchase a parking permit and put it in the window of your car.
